Terms and conditions need to be drafted for the final operating entity before launch. They should cover quotes and their validity, deposits and payment, file approval, delivery estimates versus commitments, rights clearance, and liability for source audio and artwork supplied by the customer. They must also state the production tolerance: runs may come out up to 10 per cent over or under the ordered quantity, and the difference is invoiced or refunded at the agreed per-unit price once production closes. A tolerance clause only binds the customer if it is in the terms they accepted, so this cannot live in the FAQ alone.
